The Cancer Olympics has received an award. It was an International Book Award 2015 Finalist!
Jeffery Keen, President and CEO of USA Book News, said this year’s contest yielded over 1200 entries from 15 countries, representing a “phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the world.” My book placed in the Health–Cancer category. The competition included both mainstream traditional publishers like Harper Collins, as well as independents. The awards were announced in Los Angeles in May.
This news led to a book promotional storm for me. I put out a press release about the IBA and the CCS Medal, which led to several booksignings, which led to newspaper and radio coverage. Along with the five-star reviews from Kirkus IndieReader and Readers' Favorite, the exposure from the IBA has resulted in increased sales - and hence, increased money for cancer support programs.
Now I have the pleasurable task of going out to all the bookstores that carry The Cancer Olympics, to place on each book cover the finalist medal.
How about that? Not bad for a formerly dying person!
The Cancer Olympics is also available from Amazon and Chapters-Indigo. Buying from the FriesenPress Bookstore maximizes the donation to cancer support programs.
